In my pantry there is…

a jar of Mama Lil’s peppers.  Out in the garden the lettuces and herbs are flourishing.  The fridge is housing random bits – olives, blue cheese, salami, scallions.  There is also the last of the balsamic vinaigrette made over the long weekend.

The mid week meal came together quickly as a result .  In fact, it came together the time it takes to hard boil an egg.  Salad cleaned, chopped, and tossed with the other components.  All of the pieces sliced and diced approximately equal.  Topped with an egg for that on trend finish.

The resulting chop salad had all the flavor components to make a mouth happy – spicy peppers, salty olives, umami deep salami and blue cheese, a twist of sweetness from the vinaigrette.  It paired well with a twangy and ever so sweet ginger beer.  What’s not to love?
