It was with great anticipation that we watched the creation of Union Saloon come to life. It sits at the corner of Wallingford Ave and 36th Street. Immediately behind the northbound bus stop across the street from Cantinetta.
Only about a month in and this neighborhood spot is jamming. Slim outdoor seating allows diners to take advantage of the sun stretched summer nights.
We arrived in time for happy hour. Soon there was gin&tonic, house made potato chips, kettle corn and open-faced sandwiches covering the table. It was all tasty, hot, and well executed. The order came out quickly. The attentive staff checked in often. It never felt like the outdoor seating was an island separate and forgotten by the mainland.
Smaller restaurants like this one adds to the list of amenities available within a few blocks of each other in Wallingford.
